Filming “The Legend of the Condor Heroes” is over budget

Wong Tin Lam analyses the role of Huang Rong

Both Yung Mei Ling and Michelle Yim Wai Ling have their merits.

In 1983 TVB is making a large-scale TV production namely “The Eagle Shooting Heroes” of which the first part “The Legend of the Condor Heroes” will be released next week.  TVB highly values a trial run so they held it in the Shangri-la hotel.  All the actors and actresses were present at this crowded party.  The actors includes Felix Wong Yat Wa, Yung Mei Ling, Sharon Yang Pan Pan, Marylinn Wong Cho-si, Bonnie Wong Man Wai, Tony Kwong Chor Fai etc.  They concentratedly watched the tv series.

Wong Tin Lam of TV producer said that around 10 episodes of the second part of “The Legend of the Condor Heroes” namely “Dōng Xié Shī Dú” has been filmed.  The filming goes smoothly, the only problem are the costs which are exceeded the budget.   Until now, each episode costs around one hundred forty thousand Hong Kong dollars.  This is over 30% over the original budget. Fortunately, after watching few episodes, the TVB top management is satisfied with the series.

Wong Tin Lam, as a producer, is pleased with the result.  His said that the most satisfied part is the snow scene.  He believed that it might not have so good if it was filmed in Korea.

There is a lot of public concern about Huang Rong who is played by Yung Mei Ling.    Wong Tin Lam siad that Yung Mei Ling performance as a new comer is quite good (not completely perfect).  He described that she reached a 70% requirement and it is hard to compare Yung Mei Ling with Michelle Yim Wai Ling (the previous actress acted as Huang Rong) as they are a different TV programmes.   He said that Yung Mei Ling’s advantage is that she is a bit short.
