Thanks Rob for sharing these photos, it shows the true side of Babara life and can see how lovely and real she was. Reading through many photos and writing of Babaras, it seems to me that she was shaped to her personality due to her past experience when she was a child and lacking the feeling of the complete family, lack of security. When I visit Cambridge next time, for sure I want to pay her a visit...miss her a lot.

翁美玲，时间进入90年代初，那时候我念小学，小学没毕业，我经常在学校里听到同学们说香港电视的人间仙子，那时候我没有听懂同学说的是什么意思？我也不知道人间仙子是谁？后来同学却嘲笑我说，你还喜欢香港明星呢！香港电视的人间仙子都不知道是谁？我说我真不知道，是谁？告诉我，同学说人间仙子就是逝世的翁美玲，就是在那个时候，我火气来了，为了你逝世消息的真假和同学打赌，吵架，差点打架。
翁美玲，你是无可挑剔的黄蓉，无人可比，无可取代的黄蓉，香港电视的人间仙子翁美玲。

翁美玲，你是我认识的第一个香港女星。1985年中国大陆第一次引进香港无线电视台拍摄制作的射雕英雄传，1988年，7岁的我第一次看射雕英雄传，被武打动作深深吸引，特别是你的黄蓉，虽然那时候我才7岁，但我第一眼见到你的黄蓉，我就想黄蓉太漂亮了，假如黄蓉是我老婆多好。
第一次认识你，我只知道你是黄蓉，是我父亲告诉我，你真名叫翁美玲。因为我才7岁，很多字不认识，父亲就把你的姓名写在纸上，我盯着你的姓名看了好久好久，父亲突然说一句你已逝世了，我傻了，黄蓉这么漂亮怎么会逝世了？我不相信，接受不了，在学校里为了这个消息和同学吵架，打赌，甚至差点打架。
我刚出生的那几年，你还在人世间，但我不认识你，等到我第一次看射雕英雄传认识你了，你已去天国了，上帝啊！为什么？？

Although I was born (1992) after Barbara passed, I knew of her because my parents talked about her. Huang Rong was so perfect for her, people still remember her today for it, and the series is known as THE best version (they honestly are making too many remakes nowadays). Seeing your photos really allow me to understand her better. She may be gone, but I'm glad you two have beautiful memories you can cherish.

Barbara Yung is the only one I'm sad for a Hongkong star, I have never been able to understand the feelings of her suicide, perhaps not see the future...... Read your story, more feel regret, you are a good man righteous, you believe that the feelings of Barbara Yung all along she must feel in heaven, the good life of peace! I watched her tv show when I was 8 yrs. I don't know how many times I have been watched her tv show in last 20 years. I have to say that she performed the character perfectly in the show. She was very pretty and different. I remember that our girls liked to be her while I was in middle school. Sounds silly now but she was a legend in that period of time. You probably have no idea how popular she was.
I never understood why people choose suicide. Life never easy for everyone. My perspective about her life is that she should marry you and have a couple of children. Her life would be completed with that simple life. She should never went back to HK to be a actress. She did not belong to that circle. I think, she made a wrong decision for her life but it is what it is. Only God can explain everything.

Hi Rob, thank you so much for sharing this. I was showing my daughter Barbara's pictures I found on google then I encountered your website. This is amazing and precious. I was only 12 when I first saw her acting rong'er. I loved her since and am still having her deep in my heart. She was the only model when I was drawing, nothing else, nobody else. I think God must have felt my love for her and he's granted me a daughter who looks very much like her, at least I think. May God bless her soul. May you have a pleasant life.

I am so surprised to stumble upon this site! I saw those pictures and I know those are intimate family photos. I wanted to thank Rob for sharing this part of Barbara's life. Their love story seems so stressful that I am surprised that it even lasted that long! I've liked for 20 years now..always my favorite actress.

As difficult as it may be for you to share these photos and I wanted to thank you for offering a glimpse into your peraonal lives prior to Barbara's fame in Hong Kong.

She brought so much joy and inspiration into my bleak and lowly life as a first-generation American.

Her roles onscreen was my private refuge from the realities of hatred I felt as a little Vietnamese girl growing up in a foreign country where to me, America my birthplace and therefore my home.

Now I am 28 years ,when I were 16 years I first saw her on my neighbor's TV,it is a black&white style because I were born in far village in China. I miss her!!!

Barbara is the most wonderful actress. She will live forever in our heart. Hope to have a chance to go London to see her. She has gone away so many years. But every time we think of her, there is still heartache. Everything just likes happened yesterday. She is the angel from heaven. And she just go back from us. Hope she have happiness there. I am a romantic person! By looking at all these picture it made me feel so sad. She need not have to died so young, it was a waste. Cherish what we have with the people we love. All these picture show the real her. The real Barbara. Not like the photo that we can buy from the street or cut from a magazine. You are a great guy. A lucky guy. I wish i were you! She was born in 1959 means she was born in a year of Boar. Ladies boar made a execellent wife. Boar man made a wonderful husband. I truly believe she really admire your father and mother! It would have been very nice if she would have stayed in england with you, well it means that people would have never known about her as an actress and all that fame, but staying with you i believe been better for her as she would have lived and you two could still been together.
