In 1979, Lu Zhihe bought a sea-view plot in eastern Tsim Sha Tsui, which was still a wasteland, for 68 million Hong Kong dollars, and spent 300 million Hong Kong dollars to build a Seaview Holiday Hotel (now the Seaview Jiafu Hotel). InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong is one of the first hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui East Waterfront. The hotel is strategically located close to the ferry terminal, allowing passengers to take a boat to Central, Jade Market, Hong Kong Cultural Center, Kowloon Park, Hong Kong Science Museum and Nathan Road shopping street.
