Barbara Yung's Clever Plan Against Taiwanese Beauty's Seduction of Kent Tong

Her Mood Turns Sour Over the Matter

When Kent Tong (阿湯) went to Taiwan to film a movie, Barbara Yung (翁美玲) became worried that the glamorous Taiwanese actresses might set their sights on him. Her mood worsened over this concern.

Not wanting Barbara to worry, Kent Tong took a few days off during the co-production filming to secretly return to Hong Kong to see her.

At the airport, it was purely coincidental that the reporters spotted him. Originally, they had no idea Kent was returning, but he happened to arrive at the same time as the famous actress Brigitte Lin (林青霞). As soon as he stepped out, the reporters rushed to take photos. Barbara, protective of her beloved, quickly shielded him and urged the reporters not to take pictures, fearing TVB might find out about Kents secret visit.

Just by seeing Barbara standing at the airport, eagerly waiting for his return, it was clear how deep their feelings were for each other.

Seizing the chance while Barbara was free, I pulled her aside and asked:
"Are you really comfortable letting Kent go to Taiwan alone?"

"Taiwanese Women are Skilled at Tempting Men"

Barbara cheerfully countered:
"Why wouldn’t I be?"

"Taiwanese women are very capable, they have a way with men. Aren’t you afraid of a strong rival?"

"I’m not scared. I have confidence in myself, and I guarantee Kent wouldn’t dare." She firmly believed Kent was a man of principle, even without her around, he wouldn’t get into trouble. Besides, he’s unfamiliar with the local scene. If something happens, could he handle it?" Barbara was certain Kent wouldn’t mess around with women, as he cared too much about his image."

"Didn’t you know Kent’s been very conscious of his image lately?" she added.

"How would I know?" I replied.

Final Warning: No Bed Scenes

"First, he’s afraid of upsetting the company, and second, he knows I’d object. Now, before accepting any role, he makes it clear he won’t film bed scenes."

"Wow, you’re that jealous?"

"Anyone who says they aren’t jealous is lying. Seeing him so intimate with another actress, how could I be okay with that?"

She admitted that TV dramas has their limits when it comes to romantic scenes, but movies could get very realistic, that is something she simply can’t tolerate.

"Don’t be a hypocrite, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander!" I teased.

" That's right! Only I am allowed to ‘light the lamp’, Kent isn’t allowed to ‘start a fire’!" she shot back without hesitation.

The stronger her jealousy, the clearer it was how much Barbara cared for Kent. And for him to risk TVB’s reprimand just to see his girlfriend? That is definitely worth it.

Notes:

"Light the lamp, start a fire" (只准自己點燈,不准阿湯放火) – A playful twist on the Chinese idiom "只许州官放火,不许百姓点灯" (rules for thee but not for me), showing Barbara’s possessive but humorous stance.
