The Lightness and Vitality of Yung Mei Ling
July’s Star of Vitality – Barbara Yung
Because of her petite and delicate figure, Barbara Yung jokingly calls herself the "lightest Star of Vitality."
"The previous Stars of Vitality were all strong and well-built, compared to them, I really don’t measure up," Barbara said with wide, pitiful eyes.
"But vitality isn’t proportional to body size, why worry about it?" I asked.
"Though I’m small, I have exceptional energy!" she declared proudly.
"Even if you have to work overnight for several days straight while filming, can you still maintain that energy?" I asked.
"It’s inevitable that I’ll feel a bit tired, but I’m a strange person, the moment I get the call sheet and know I have a scene to shoot, I’m instantly full of energy. And once I’m on set facing the camera, I’m even more lively and vigorous!" She spoke with such animated enthusiasm, proving she truly has a workaholic’s passion.
Though she loves her work, the intense filming schedule recently caused her to lose a full ten pounds. It wasn’t until she took a trip to England to spend a few days with her mother, enjoying family time, that her mood lifted, and she finally regained some weight, her face looking a little fuller again.
Barbara rarely exercises because she dislikes sweating afterward, especially in summer, when even a little activity leaves her drenched. She’s also afraid of tanning her skin. The only exceptions are modern, air-conditioned sports facilities where she can play badminton or table tennis to her heart’s content, these are her best sports.
In the past, she also enjoyed swimming alone at the beach. But since she wears contact lenses, swimming became a hassle, afterward, she’d have to deal with cleaning them. So after studying in England, she simply stopped swimming altogether. Now, swimming is just a historical footnote in her life.
Though she doesn’t exercise much, she believes that filming period dramas, with all the action and martial arts, gives her enough physical activity. Besides, in her free time, she watches movies, especially comedies, laughing heartily to lift her spirits, or tearjerker dramas to have a good cry and release pent-up emotions. By opening her heart this way, she maintains a cheerful mindset every day, ensuring both mental and physical well-being.
