Barbara Yung’s Ashes Laid to Rest
Buried at Cambridge Public Cemetery
On June 3, TV actress Barbara Yung was buried at Cambridge Public Cemetery in the UK. Accompanying her in eternal rest were only a photographic reproduction of an oil painting and a string of transparent Catholic rosary beads.
The funeral was held at 2:30 PM local time, beginning with a memorial Mass led by Father Peter in the cemetery’s chapel. Over 40 of Barbara’s relatives and friends in the UK attended, including more than a dozen of her foreign friends. However, her mother and her then-boyfriend, Kenny Tong, remained in Hong Kong and did not attend the funeral.
On the chapel’s altar was a photographic reproduction of an oil portrait of Barbara. The original painting remains in her Hong Kong home—it was the last oil painting she created, a self-portrait she painted two years prior when she served as a bridesmaid at her uncle Chan King’s wedding. In the portrait, Barbara has short hair with a small white flower tucked behind her left ear, her delicate profile exuding charm. The photo reproduction measured one foot in height and eight inches in width. Since Barbara loved white and purple the most, her uncle personally designed the frame with a white background and purple trim.
In front of the portrait lay a green jade urn containing her ashes, alongside a cross. A larger cross made of white chrysanthemums, adorned with red flowers, stood at the front, surrounded by wreaths sent by relatives and friends.
The memorial Mass concluded after ten minutes, with the priest blessing Barbara’s soul for eternal peace. The mourners, holding wreaths, filed out of the chapel and slowly proceeded to the gravesite. Barbara’s uncle led the way, carrying the urn while weeping uncontrollably, repeatedly calling out her name and childhood nickname, "Nun-nun." Her stepfather followed sorrowfully, holding her portrait.
Though the funeral took place under the sun, an air of grief hung over the gravesite. Barbara’s grave measured two and a half feet in length, one foot in width, and two feet in depth. Her uncle, still clutching the urn, cried out "Nun-nun, Nun-nun," as if trying to wake her. Other relatives and friends stood around the grave, offering flowers amid uncontrollable sobs.
Her uncle refused to let go of the urn until the cemetery staff had to step in, gently taking it from him to place it into the grave. A rosary and her portrait were also placed inside before the earth was filled in. From then on, Barbara Yung’s beauty would rest eternally beneath the soil, forever departed from this world.
After the funeral, her uncle Chan King expressed his wish to hold an exhibition of Barbara’s paintings, showcasing dozens of her works, including poetry-related pieces, portraits, and other designs. Among them would be portraits he had painted of her from the age of four until adulthood. The time and location of the exhibition have yet to be decided, but it may be held in Hong Kong and London.

翁美玲骨灰入土
一串念珠 一幅油画 长伴艳骨
电视艺员翁美玲的骨灰已于昨日（1985年6月3日）在英国剑桥公立坟场安葬，长伴身旁遗物为其继父送上的一串透明天主教式念珠，及其舅父替她绘画的生前最后一幅油画的翻摄照片。
仪式于英国时间下午2：30分举行。首先在剑桥新市场道公立坟场的小圣堂进行追思弥撒，由彼得神父主礼，并有司琴，到祭亲友40多人，大部分是翁在英国的亲友，其中有十多人是翁的外籍男女朋友。而翁妈与汤镇业仍在香港，没有参加翁的葬礼。
阿翁舅父 哭成泪人
圣堂的祭台放有一幅翁美玲的照片，这幅照片是翁舅父陈景于两年前结婚时，翁美玲前往任伴娘，其舅父为她绘画一幅人像油画，原画留在翁美玲的香港家中，而照片则是翻摄油画的。照片高约30公分，阔20公分，相架为白底捆紫色框边。这是由于翁喜爱白色及紫色的缘故，所以她的舅父特别亲自设计。相中人翁美玲束短发，左边佩戴小白花，侧影显得俏丽。
遗照前置有白色花环，内放翠绿色玉石骨灰坛，摆放一个十字架，台前另有一个高约60公分由白色菊花点缀成的十字架，架上缀有红色鲜花， 周围放置有各亲友送上的花圈20多个。
追思弥撒只进行了十分钟，神父祝福死者亡灵安息之后，各亲友自持着花环，从教堂鱼贯排列行出，向墓地前进，翁舅父捧着骨灰坛走在最前面，翁的继父廖锦堂捧着翁的遗照跟在后面，神父在两人旁边沿途安慰，其他亲友则在后面默哀着慢步走向墓地，约十分钟路程，众抵达翁美玲的坟墓。翁舅父在途中不断呼喊翁美玲的名字和乳名，哭成泪人。
愁云惨雾 艳骨长埋
翁美玲的坟墓，已掘有一个75公分乘30公分、深约60公分的洞穴，各人围绕着坟墓，将花环放在墓前，翁继父手持照片，伤心跪在地上，而其舅父则自始至终痛哭流涕，抱着骨灰坛跪下于坟前不断高呼：囡囡。其他亲友也泣不成声。翁舅父一直吩咐各人多些送花给囡囡，而他却不愿意放下骨灰坛，紧抱着似不愿翁美玲长埋地下，终于由坟场的负责人动手，从翁舅父的怀中夺去骨灰坛，将骨灰放入洞穴中。翁美玲自此艳骨长埋，永别人间。骨灰放入洞穴后，再放入一串念珠，及翁美玲的遗照，坟场工作人员将泥土覆上，终于将翁美玲安葬。神父及亲友并在坟前洒圣水。葬礼虽在阳光下进行，但墓前却笼罩着愁云惨雾，各人均露出悲戚的面容。葬礼仪式至下午3时结束。
